Flying parents

how does

it work?

Most of our dogs are adopted in countries like Germany, The Netherlands, Austria, and occasionally in Sweden and Switzerland.
Since Cyprus is an island, the only way dogs can unite with their adoptive families is if they are flying with a passenger.
Being a flying parent is one of the most rewarding experiences and one of the best ways to volunteer.

Which airlines we usually fly the dogs with?

  •  Germania Airways
  •  Transavia
  •  Aegean Airlines
  •  Lufthansa
  •  Austrian Airlines
  •  KLM

How does it work?

Once you have provided us with the information we need to book a space for the dog , you should  receive email confirmation directly from the airlines. On the date of the flight, you need to arrive at the airport 2 hours prior the flight. Our team of volunteers will meet you there and arrange check in for the dog, scan of the crate and necessary payments.

Volunteers work is done once the dog is checked in and you proceed to passport control.

Upon your arrival at the destination all you have to do is to collect a dog in the crate  in the luggage zone and take him out to arrivals where happy adopters will be waiting for you and their dog to collect and take him home.

You will get a lot of positive emotions and give that dog a chance to be with his family.

Where is the dog during the flight?

Most of the airlines allow small dogs ( up to 8 kg) in passenger cabin. For bigger dogs aircrafts have equipped according to IATA requirements  pet section , where airline staff will keep an eye on the dog and in some cases if you wish, you can pay a visit during the flight.

What information do we need to book the flight?

  • Name of the passenger

  • Contact number (including country/area code)

  • Flight details

    • Flight number
    • Itinerary
    • Time of departure and arrival,
    • Airlines
  • Departure airport in Cyprus (Larnaca or Paphos)

  • Booking number

If you are ready to be that last link that finally connects the dog with happy life, please email the above information to: info@sled-dog-rescue.com and we will contact you immediately.

Have a nice flight !
