19.10.2020 – UPDATE: Sabrina is adopted in Germany. She is looking for the flight preferably to Berlin , but other cities are acceptable.
With us since May 8th, 2020.
Sabrina is a joyful, curious, and social husky girl. When she came to us in May 2020, she was about five months old. Sabrina is approximately the same age as Oliver, Nala, Gabi, and Amber, so coming to the Sanctuary meant socializing with dogs of her age.
Her previous owner left Cyprus and did not make any prior arrangements for the dogs. People from the local community informed us about two dogs living on the roof of the building. One of them was Sabrina. For this reason, we do not know anything about her past.
Even though Sabrina was neglected and abandoned, she is still a young dog and learns everything quickly. She is very affectionate with people, as well as curious about what they are doing at all times.
Sabrina has been with us a little over a month, and so far, we tested her to meet new dogs, drive in the car, vet visits, walk on the leash, eating around people and house environment. Even though she was a bit reserved in some situations , understandably for her age, generally Sabrina did very well.
As a puppy growing into a young dog, the potential adopter must think very carefully about his or her ability to provide young, energetic husky with a joyful and fulfilling life.
Sabrina would do well in an active family, willing to invest time and resources into her education and general well-being. She is sweet and affectionate with people, so she can be a single dog or with other dogs, preferably close to her age.
A TIP from SDR dog trainers:
Raising a puppy or ” teenager is extremely rewarding but time-consuming and often physically exhausting. Raising a husky puppy may be challenging for someone who never had dogs before. However, it is possible to prepare yourself ahead of time by doing research and checking local dog schools ( only the ones who work with force-free methods). One of the great sources of information on puppies is book called ” Easy Peasy Puppy Squeezy” by Steve Mann. It describes various stages of puppy development and gives clear instructions on how to solve and anticipate any puppy problems.
