In Sled Dog Rescue Sanctuary in Cyprus, we aim to allow dogs to be themselves and express their natural behaviors. The dogs have freedom of running, digging, creating friendships with other dogs and volunteers.
The goal of our organization is to provide them with quality life while they are waiting to find their forever homes. One of the rules we have is that every dog has to have access to veterinary care when needed. To maintain good health, we have to provide them with regular check-ups, tick and flea protection, deworming, and treat them when they get ill. Just because they are rescue dogs, does not make it acceptable to neglect their fundamental needs.
Life in the Sanctuary is busy. From time to time, accidents happen. The dog may scratch himself while playing, or “pick a play-fight with a bee”. This is just life. We all would like to protect our pets from all the dangers in the world, but in reality, there is as much as we can control. While dogs are waiting to find their homes, we want to make sure that they stay healthy. We were doing well so far, but 2020 Pandemic took a big financial toll on humanity, and as a result on rescue dogs.
Our most urgent veterinary bills have to be paid as soon as possible.
Food and health are the basics we must provide to the dogs. If we fail at that, there is no point in even trying to help.
We ask all dog lovers, people who are passionate about Nordic dogs, and generally all the kind people in the world to help these dogs. Some vet bills are as small as 40 euros, while other dogs may have a pending bill of 400 euros.
